There’s a new article about McFly on Dailystar. It’s about the band changing their musical direction.
McFLY admit they dumped pop for R&B to follow in the footsteps of Prince.
McFly’s Tom Fletcher told me: “We realised all the songs we’d been writing early on could have gone on the last album and that we weren’t doing anything new.
“It made us decide to challenge ourselves to do something completely different. We wanted a drastic step in the other direction.
“A couple of the songs in that early bunch that stood out for us had a Prince and Jacko influence and that’s what we wanted to aim to be like – the great pop acts.”
Tom, 25, and bandmates Danny Jones, 24, Dougie Poynter, 22, and Harry Judd, 24, decided to rope in uber-hot US producer Dallas Austin, who has worked with both Jacko and Madonna.
Danny revealed: “Dallas took us to clubs when we were meant to be working in the studio. We were out with him one night and he said, ‘I need a phone’, and then sung into it.
“He played it back the next day and it was so amazing it turned into our first single Party Girl.”
After re-gaining control of their career by re-signing to their record label Universal in a much-improved deal which shares their profits 50/50, they’re on the way to becoming multi-millionaires.
Teentoday.co.uk finally released the promised McFly articles on their site. Click on Read More to read all their articles. You can also find some articles on unrealityshout.com and glasswerk.co.uk. It’s worth reading them!
Tomorrow on TT is McFly day – with details of the new album and stories from the recording, the band’s supersite and pioneering new distribution model, reviews of the three songs we heard (including the one you all already know) and as many pictures of Dougie in his underwear as we can find – but to whet your appetite here’s some exclusive McFly news relating to Pret A Manger sandwiches. Yes, really. Hit ‘see more’.
We’re really pulling out all the stops to deliver these exclusives and like most of our recent breaking news – that’s Una-the-Sats’ ballbag and The Wanted’s nipples – it was exclusively revealed to us on Twitter. After tweeting the following:
No love for the All Day Breakfast? We’re disappointed. Check back tomorrow for more exciting news of this nature, plus actual music reviews and ‘real content’. We’ve made you wait long enough. It’s MCFLY DAY TOMORROW PEOPLE! WOO.
Fresh released a picture of Danny and his girlfriend Georgia from their May/June on their Facebook page.Huge thank you to McFly Portugal, who made us aware of this.
Yesterday Tom could be heard on Radio 1.He talked about the new album and about Super City!
Tom can also be found in the Sunday Mail. Mcfly will be performing on In Demand Live on the 31st July and they will perform Party Girl live. Credit goes to McFly Portugal.
New York Post released an article, reporting about McFly. The article says that the new single is released on the 1st September, but on the Myspace site it officially says it’s the 6th September for the Uk. Maybe the single gets released sooner in America. Thansk to McFly Portugal for the article!
The UK has crowned the boys of McFly with seven #1 singles in the last six years, and the boys have deserved each accolade. The US has only let them play background actors alongside Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine — remember “Just My Luck?” Anyone? Anyone?
Well today marks the day McFly begins their aggressive American assault and I’m happy to let them surmount me. You know … musically.
More specifically, their new single “Party Girl ” (co-written with R&B songwriter/producer Dallas Austin) is sure to pound the walls off every tween bedroom from here to Texarkana.
Another collaboration on their upcoming album “Super City” is with the pop chart’s new king Taio Cruz. His latest single “Dynamite” was crafted by Dr. Luke, the same brains behind Ke$ha’s “Your Love is my Drug” and Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.” Basically a power-house of talent is ready to push these Brits deep down into our Yankee ear-drums until we succumb to their blimey ways.
Take a listen to the new track “Party Girl” below, which is out September 1.
Today Tom turned 25 (he’s getting old!) and with a birthday comes a present! We teamed up with mission:MCFLY and gave Tom what we think is an amazing gift for an amazing person in an amazing band.
We sent Tom his very own STAR Certificate. That certificate certifies that a new star, named ‘McFly’, is launched today in the honour of Tom’s birthday. This guaruntees McFly will be around for literally ever, since the star will still be floating around in the galaxy, even long after we’ve all gone. It states exactly where in the universe the McFly star can be found, so if he wants to he can even dust off his telescope and have a look!
With this Star Certificate we sent to Tom, with help of tour manager Tommy, comes the Launch Certificate. Since the star was launched into outer space today, on his actual birthday, we only received this just now. We’ll put it up for download here so you can all help and catch Tom’s attention on twitter so we can send it digitally.
For making this gift possible, we’d like to thank the other mission team (obviously), Muri for thinking of this gift, Tommy for helping us with sending the gift and Giovanna for being in our little complot!
Tonight the mission:MCFLY team will be on Dutch radio to talk about the gift, the new single, their new album and much more!
